Total Rock, and Killswitch Engage tonight!

Hey everyone!!
This afternoon (Saturday 13th January), if you are not doing much.. head along to www.totalrock.com from 3pm till 6pm UK time.. as I will be there doing an online radio show with my friends Dave and Lucy.. (any maybe housemate Hayley). It's such a great Metal Hammer related show, where we play people's requests and talk about metal. Simple really! You can email the studio for request and comments on: studio@totalrock.com and there's even a webcam where you can see us arsing about.

THENNNNN.. Ahhh, bloody hell! I am sooo excited about Killswitch Engage tonight! They are playing Brixton Accademy (is that even spelt right?) in London.. with Bring Me The Horizon.. and The Haunted (amazing!). So, come say hi if you see me wandering about (most likely down the right hand side.. or up near the bar at the back on the right hand side.. dancing over the top! Woo! If you don't know what I look like.. keep an eye out for this:

Ha ha ha

See you there!!

New Year, New Music!

Happy New Year everyone, hope you all had a good time counting down/up to midnight.
I am excited about 2007.. I have faith that it will be a great year for life and music for everyone. I will be kicking off the New Year in style tonight by going to watch Gallows and As I Lay Dying play in Colchester, and then going to watch them play again on Monday at the Hammersmith Appolo in London with Bullet For My Valentine. They should both be great shows, for different reasons. Anyone thats been reading any metal mags, or listening to the Rock Show will have heard of Gallows.. so I thought I would throw in my extra tuppence... and say:
LISTEN TO THEM! GO WATCH THEM! THEY'RE BLOODY GREAT!!!! Support amazing new UK music.
Check them out at myspace.com/burnthegallows and here is a nice pic of them from Halloween last year (in fancy dress).
On that note - there are some other great UK bands popping up: Check out Flood Of Red, Sylosis (have obsessed about them before), Lights. Action! are good too, The Legacy and many more. The Metal Hammer Incomings (new band) section that I edit is a good way to check out what new bands have new releases and tour dates coming up (shameless plug, but I work hard on it.. ).

On ANOTHER note... I am totally obsessed with Canada (not that I have ever been). There is a new Comeback Kid record coming out soon, that is apparently amazing (I get it next week), Alexisonfore will be touring soon (March I think), Billy Talent will also be touring soon.. and of course.. the Cancer Bats will be back around the UK a lot this year - UK dates planned in May and possibly March (tbc). Here is a little pic of them and me (and my house mates) from when the lads came and lived with us before Christmas. Bless 'em.

Until next time,
rock on! rock out!
Hell yeah.

Bat attack!!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! I hope that everyone has a lovely Christmas and New Year... and that all your New Year dreams come true. I haven't been online for a bit... I took a week off work (relationship fucked up and I needed some time out).. and ended up going out and partying every night. I went to Brighton to see The Legacy (good UK hardcore) with This Is Hell (NY hardcore).. went on a boat party til the early hours of the morning.. and... hung out with some of the best dudes I have ever met.
In my flat in London (which i share with 3 other girls).. we have a large living room.. and given the nature of my job (and the jobs of the girls i live with.. all in metal/rock kinda jobs).. we have started having a lot of bands drop in and crash on the floor on their way through the city. These are people we have met through interviews/PR/label stuff... We have had house guests like The Scare, This Is Hell, members of Gallows, The Maple State... and now.. the funnest (is that a word) group of all: Canadians the Cancer Bats. Check them out at myspace.com/cancerbats. Great punk rock and hardcore with filthy basslines and roudy chorus lines.. feel good, punch someone in the face kinda stuff. And.. they are possibly the 4 nicest people on the planet. Coming back for a tour in May in the UK... and perhaps another one in March.. make sure you check them out!!!

Lamb Of God in London..

Jesus- frickin’-Christ. Lamb Of God are amazing. I mean, I knew that anyway.. but last week’s performance at the Unholy Alliance blew my mind (and my ears off my head). I don’t know what magical ingredient they had in their bass stack/kick drum (cos I don’t really know about stuff like that), but every few (incredible) beats - the most amazing BOOOOOM!!!!! went across the venue - and made me burp. It was so loud, so deep, so amazing and so filthy - that a certain male on the Metal Hammer team said that they nearly shat themselves. You know it’s a good gig when that’s the reaction! Damn it, it was amazing. I sung along (badly) to every word.. did my best attempt at metal dancing while still not losing my bag and coat - and stayed grinning from ear to ear all the way through. I love that band. What a night!

New Metal Hammer - On sale Now!!

Woo Hoo! You read that right. All my hard work (ha ha) is now in print in the new issue of Metal Hammer... my first ever cover feature is in there too! I went on tour with Bullet For My Valentine and Iron Maiden in the States.. and the fruits of that labour are in that issue. Check it out! There is also a feature I did with Bring Me The Horizon, plus my Incomings New Band section.. and a bunch more! Go get it.. it looks like this:

See y'all soon

Incubus at the Astoria

Hello everyone! How you doing. I haven't been on here for a long time.. sorry.. I have just been so busy at work! Metal Hammer is going OK, but we have to put 2 issues together before Christmas - which is pretty tight! The new issue of Hammer goes on sale next week, will make a post about all the details of that soon!

Anyways, I went to see Incubus at the Astoria in London last night. The lovely Mr Daniel Carter was there as well with some of his chums, as was my buddy Arya who drums in Skindred. He had come all the way up from Exeter with a friend to watch the show, so he was expecting something special.

Was it special? Hmm. Not really. Not in my eyes. The band are obviously great musicians, and very talented.. but they have been doing this for years, and you would expect nothing less. I was just disappointed that they didn't move about the stage very much.. and Brandon (singer) almost seemed shy!! The place was packed full of squealing girls (that's not to say that I don't think he's rather handsome).. but the place was filled with sqeaks anytime he even glanced up at the audience! Ha ha.
I left after about one hour.. once I had noticed that they weren't gonna play much of their older/jazzier stuff that I love so much. Anyways.. it was still fun :)
And from today begins the best run of gigs in a long time..
Friday: Bullet and As I Lay Dying in Cambridge
Saturday: Cancer Bats and Alexisonfire at Brixton
Sunday: Exit Ten and Sylosis and Outcryfire in High Wycombe
Monday: Slayer and Lamb Of God in Brixton
Wednesday: Unearth and Hatebreed!!

Comeeee onnn!!!!!!

See you there xx
