More great new British music!

Hiya people! Hope you've all been well and dandy - happy Tuesday to all of you. I'm sitting on my sofa and experiencing a nice warm glow from the knowledge that the UK is pushing out so much great new (not 'nu') metal right now. It heats my soul. Sad, but true.
Last night I went out with my buddies Lucy F and Katie B to see Exit Ten play in London. They were awesome, of course. Here's them:

...and if you wanna hear some of their latest stuff, go here.
They were supported by a young Welsh band called The Blackout. They have already supported the Lostprophets in Wales and stuff. They have 2 singers - one blond, one brown haired (that's how I tell them apart anyways). They aren't strictly metal, as such, more kinda a The Used meets Underoath type thingy - but they were certainly bouncy and people were going a bit mental. (Hear their stuff here) This is the brown haired singer (I guess he has a name.. but i don't know it.. ha ha):

Last up - but by no means least - are this band I heard today called Brotherhood Of The Lake (very metal name). They kinda sound like a mental Johnny Truant meets Lamb Of God gone British type thing. Hear it and them here. And check out this pic - skulls in a photo? Hell yeah!

Until next time, party on!
Ha ha

Nothing to do with metal.. but...

Ha ha.. so... this is nothing to do with music, but my housemate Charlie has just got back from a festival in Cornwall - armed with a toy called a Bopit.. it's totally amazing (and silly.. and looks a little bit like a dodgy sex toy).. but worth checking out if - like me - you like a bit of a dance, and can't always get out to a club :)
So... it looks like this:

It plays a totally stupid tune and shouts out instructions that you have to do in time with the music. Yeah.. not very metal.. but I'm not ashamed. Honest. Ha ha! To see it for yourself (and even try it out online) go here..

You make mock me.. but if you had one in your house/flat/tent.. you'd love it too.
:)

Check out All That Remains

I have loved this band for years… got to hang out with them on last year's Sounds Of The Underground in USA (the infamous 'chonging' event), as well as last winter's Trivium tour, this summer's UK SOTU... and Ozzfest! They are really touring hard (all over the globe) to try and make it big and get their names out... so check them out, and give them some support. (I think that they should be back in the UK this autumn/winter... will keep you posted). You can hear their music here.. and here is a nice silly picture for your pleasure. x

p.s: Unearth are touring with Hatebreed around the UK in November! How excited am I? (very)

Ooo ooo.. go to this!

Head along to the Damnation Festival on October the 15th in Manchester!

Here is the snazzy blurb that comes with this sort of thing (hee hee):

EXTREME legends *THE HAUNTED* and death metal overlords *AKERCOCKE* will headline this year's DAMNATION FESTIVAL.
Ragga-punks *SKINDRED* and the debauched *MISTRESS* will join them to complete two stages of uncompromising and diverse metal.

The bands mark a massive scoop for the growing UK-focussed feast of metal set to take place at Manchester's Jilly's Rockworld and Music Box on October 15. The Haunted performance will be a UK festival exclusive, while Terrorizer Stage headliners Akercocke will also be making a rare live appearance in Manchester.

Festival spokesman Gavin McInally said: "With the exclusive capture of The Haunted, Akercocke and arguably the UK's hottest live band right now in Skindred, Damnation Festival now offers fans the most diverse and genuinely exciting bill the UK will see this year.
"Italian jazz, raw punk and extreme death, all by seasoned and highly respected live performers - it's going to be an event to remember.

"Despite the legendary big names, we haven't lost focus on why Damnation Festival was born, and again, this year will also see some of the finest rising talent from our shores wow fans come October 15th.
"Evile, Kingsize Blues, Head-On, Murder One, Biomechanical and Mistress are a pick of England's finest, and we've even extended a warm invite to two of Scotland's top extreme bands; Man Must Die and Madman Is Absolute."

Death-peddling thrashers THE HAUNTED stunned the music world with their self-titled debut. A decade later the Swedes show no sign of relenting. Peter Dolving and his lads will shake off the confines of the studio to prove this in a one-off live date at Damnation.

Satanic noisemakers AKERCOCKE will strike the final blow on Terrorizer's metal hordes with a barrage of black metal death, topping a line-up that boasts Stampin' Ground, Ephel Duath and Send More Paramedics.
They warned fans: "Manchester beware, we are coming to ruin lives with a crushing assault of necromantic terror blasts and face melting guitar work."

SKINDRED will whip up a serious clash of cultures on a Jagermeister Stage by unleashing their awesome mix of reggae and metal with classic anthems like "Nobody" and "Set It Off". Unrivalled enthusiasm and a boisterous frontman have earned them a solid reputation as one of Britain's best live bands.

Unfortunately, The Axis Of Perdition have been forced to pull out due to personal reasons, so it's up to depraved sludge mob MISTRESS to sharpen the nasty Terrorizer bill. Monstrous slabs of doom and drunken debauchery big enough to fill the hole left in Iron Monkey's wake, delivered by the godly Dave Cunt and Mick Kenney. Your ears will never be the same again.

The second instalment of UK-focussed metal will again take place across two stages in Manchester's Jilly's Rockworld and Music Box. Fourteen bands will grace the heavy JAGERMEISTER Stage and the even heavier TERRORIZER Stage.
A Terrorizer spokesman said: "We are proud to once again be involved, as the most brutal metal acts on the planet converge upon Manchester this October for Damnation Festival 2006.
"It's one more giant nail in the coffin of corporate rock."

Tickets for Damnation Festival 2006 are priced £15 and are on sale now through Seetickets, Ticketline, Manchester's Piccadilly Box Office, and Liverpool's Radio City Box Office. For further information about the event visit: http://www.damnationfestival.co.uk or e-mail: enquiries@damnationfestival.co.uk

So now you know! Do It! DO IT!

Uxfest was awesome!

Hello! So.. it's Monday night, and I'm still recovering from the carnage of yesterday's Uxfest event in London, at the Islington Academy.
It was a MASSIVE event.. about 1000 peope showed up (it sold out!), and around 20 bands played. I didn't see all of them (of course), as bands were playing at the same time on different stages.. but thought that I would pop up a blog to mention two bands, in particular, that I thought were pretty awesome.
First up: Engel (from Sweden, featuring members of The Haunted). They were one of the only bands not from the UK, and travelled a really long way to come and play the fest - good lads! Check them out - proper, intense Swedish, stonky metal. You can find out more about them at their official site: www.engelpropaganda.com

Another good band during the day were Outcryfire (think that's one word..).. British dudes with some serious metal stodge, and a frontman that goes ape-shit and grins at people (which is always nice at a metal show).
Did a load of silly interviews in the disabled toilet (the quietest and emptiest place in the building) and perhaps Radio One Rock Show will nab some of those soon..
In the meantime, here is a pic of Outcryfire for your enjoyement. (Check them out for yourselves at www.outcryfire.co.uk

Byeeee!
